Virtual banking has been offered on the Internet since 1995. Along with banking, a host of other commercial ventures including online forex trading, PayPal and e-bay have offered great opportunities for people to send and receive money for a variety of business and personal reasons.

Banking is one of the businesses that have benefited considerably from the cyberspace evolution, and some foreign banks now offer offshore banking. While a number of reputable banks offer their services online, a surprising number of these online offshore “banks” are really nothing more than rip-offs and scams.

What is Offshore Banking?

Many offshore banks are located on islands and they generally offer both secrecy and high interest rates. Sometimes these rates seem excessively high, and they often serve to lure in greedy people to open offshore banking accounts.

Offshore banking scams frequently rely on the greed of the individuals they take advantage of. When it comes to offshore accounts, this tends to target those who wish to avoid disclosing their financial accounts to creditors or tax authorities from their particular countries.

Offshore Banking Pitfalls

Since you would potentially be committing the crime of tax evasion by opening an offshore banking account, you would then have no legal recourse if the institution is a scam and decides to keep your money. Often, the offshore “bank” will be set up like a Ponzi scheme, paying out the high interest, but withholding the principal amount on deposit.

The best way to avoid these types of scams is to not get involved in the first place. If you are banking online, make sure that any institution you choose is not on any of the watch lists put out by the FDIC. Also make sure that the financial institution is chartered and regulated.

Many online banks can be verified by a “SightCertain” seal which is an electronic watermark or a digital certification offered by the American Bankers Association. By clicking on this logo, the customer is directed to a secure online database that will verify the legitimacy of the financial institution.

Clearly “caveat emptor” or buyers beware applies when it comes to online offshore banking. Remember, if things look to good to be true, they most often are.

1. Scammers will try to trick you do buy something which is related to MJ and you never will receive that item after the money are send. Also, a few days ago has appeared a MJ scam wich involves charity. They will send a fake email that will redirect you to a charity page dedicated to MJ. You are thinking that you will do a good thing, but in reality the money will go straight in their pockets.

2.Spammers will use this subject to mass email you something related to MJ. In 90% of the cases you will be asked to download something and your computer will be virused and used as a spam computer.

Be safe and remember that any big event in the world will attract scammers and spammers because with a little content related to the event they can steal your money.

The biggest craigslist fraud is in the For Sale Section / Cars and Trucks. Here, from all the ads I can say that 50%-70% percent are fake. Soon I will release a guide how to spot those scams because I tried to fight back to them posting their emails here, but the emails are changed every time so is very hard to help people.

Another sections used by fraudsters are the Rental Section, Jobs Section, Resumes Section. With some automated software they can post daily many ads. Most of them are flagged by users, but some of it will remain alive. Another tool used by them is another automated program that crawls craiglist and gets the emails. With such a big list for email is really easy for fraudsters to steal your information or your money. With mass-mailing they can spoof any sender and send fake emails.

So the best fraud prevention method is research. You must check every aspect of the problem and for sure you’ll not be a victim.

The big change that they made is the fact that the email isn’t anymore displayed in the add, so that it makes difficult for me to post it here and alert people about this ordinary scams.

If you read the news, 2 in 10 articles in the newspapers are about fraud. Every day, a new fraud story is on the front page. Fraud covers every field from identity theft fraud to insurance fraud or investment fraud. The purpose of the fraudsters is just one: MONEY. They use any method that can gain access to your information or to your money. They will never stop to try to get you. Some of them are using old methods which can still fool people, but some use new tactics that are unknown until then and have a good success rate. Don’t be afraid to fight back and to try to prevent fraud because this is your only chance. As you have seen, fraudsters are between us and they are hard to recognize for the “naked eye”. If you are a man that went through life and you don’t think that you can gain something for free, fighting fraud is a easy job. As I said previous, in any field, before you do a transaction (or anything) try to search information about the persons, the company or anything which is related. Try to think further, try to put yourself in the others place.
