Tips to avoid e-mail fraud

E-mail fraud, in my opinion represents more then 50% of all the online fraud. This type of fraud involves scams, spoofing, lotteries, phishing, credit card fraud, escrow fraud, dhl/ups fraud, employment/business opportunities, investment fraud, reshipping, action fraud and many more or undiscovered tips. All have the same purpose: IDENTITY THEFT.

First thing, when you get this kind of e-mail, is to delete it. If you open it the chances to be a victim of email fraud are growing. If you opened the spam message, you will read a great/good offer that doesn’t exist. Next step is to look at the sender details. First, you will see a legitimate e-mail sender, but if you look at the headers of the e-mail you can see an ip or hostname that hasn’t no link with the legitimate company/person. If you have discovered a fake ip the problem is solved: IT IS A FRAUD ATTEMPT.

70% of the scams that are online have a single purpose and that is to steal your bank account information and your credit card or debit card information. When you receive e-mails which are asking you to reveal personal  information, please report it. You don’t know how or where? Read here . After you report the fraud attempt, delete the message. Always you must remember that companies like PayPal or banks DON’T ASK YOU PERSONAL INFORMATION LIKE YOUR ACCOUNT/CREDIT CARD/DEBIT CARD INFORMATION.

I hope this information is usefull for all the people who are reading.
