Fraud scam – New tactics used to scam people on used car auctions

In my earlier posts I showed people how they can discover fraudulent ads and auctions on used cars. The only problem is that some fraudsters have found the blog and they changed the method.

The big change that they made is the fact that the email isn’t anymore displayed in the add, so that it makes difficult for me to post it here and alert people about this ordinary scams.

Hey, i have been scammed a few weeks ago. A joseph cuthbert sold me a vw samba van. Also from spain and the bank account name was under the name of Vasile Laurentiu Laibar. Which is the same as the yahoo name in the reply of Dave. Now that we know this, is there any way we can get our money back, because punishing them is not enough for me! It pretty much went like dave said with the whole buying – selling – tracking info bs. But it’s not that they contacted me. I was actually looking for this vehicle and came on a belgian car buying site that had a vehicle for sale. So i mailed the owner and thats when it all went wrong i guess.

Damm I have one of this punks I believe.

    look at this crap

    Hi again,

I will have the car shipped from UK by an US Air Force cargo plane so there won’t be any additional shipping costs. The shipping will take 6-8 days, depending on your location.Shipping will be door to door,to your home address, somebody must be home when the car arrives to sign for the reception. The car will arrive with all the papers and documents required for registration and the keys. The clear title and the bill of sale will be already signed by me.

The payment will be done through eBay.You will send the money to eBay and as soon as the payment is confirmed they will notify me to proceed with the shipping. I will ship the car you will receive it and you will have 5 days for inspection, both the car and the paperwork and the option to accept or reject the car.The inspection time period will begin as soon as you sign for receiving the car at your requested address.During all this time eBay will hold the money into a trust account. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the car before decided to buy it.If you are satisfied with the car and decide to keep it you inform eBay about this and they will release the money to me. If the car is not as advertised and decide not to keep it eBay will refund you the money, no questions asked, and shipping back the car will be my concern. I think this is more than fair for the both of us.Please take in to consideration that I will get paid only after you receive the car and make sure everything is as agreed.

If you agree with these terms and you have the money, send me your full name and the address where you want the car to be delivered to and I will initiate the transaction with eBay. You will receive all the transaction details from them.I will appreciate an answer as soon as possible.

    Thank you!

Sgt. Ricardo Branch = FRAUD. Toyota Corolla looks great! Great price! Ships from Alaska, bottom line, it IS too good to be true. He’s full of crap. watch out!

Also, Matthew Jackson1906 with the honda has the same story, except this time stationed in the UK.

I realized it may show locally on Craigslist but they are not. From now on, I’M ONLY BUYING LOCALLY & TEST DRIVING IT MYSELF BEFORE BUYING.

    Thank you for this site.

    Hi,
Thanks for replying to my ad. I’m in a hurry to find a buyer. The reason I’m selling this vehicle way below market value, is because I would like to help ease the burden of my sisters medical expenses, which she has acquired do to a serious illness. I’m an Air Force Sergeant stationed at the RAF Lakenheath base in the United Kingdom . The car is here with me. I need to sell it before February 28.
